In the morning and evening, the air is calmer and more stable, providing a safer and more pleasant flight. During the day, the sun’s warmth can create turbulence, making flying more challenging.

Sunrise
Sunrise is the most popular time for hot air balloon tours in Cappadocia. The air is also calmer and cooler at this time, resulting in better flight conditions. Timing starts between 03:45 and 05:30 AM (depending on the season).
Sunset
Sunset flights are less usual because of less steady wind conditions in the evening, but some operators do provide them. These flights provide a unique perspective, with the setting sun creating lengthy shadows and a golden glow across the landscape. However, these flights may not be available every day and are more dependent on the weather.
Duration: 45 – 60 minutes for a standard Hot Air Balloon Flight.
The entire experience takes an average of 3 to 3.5 hours, including hotel transfer, breakfast, the flight itself, and the toast afterwards.

In 2026, two related events take place:
→ Cappadocia Balloon Festival: July 30 – August 2, 2026 (4 days) at the Göreme Festival Area. Expect special balloon displays, evening events, concerts, and entertainment.
→ Cappadocia Culture Road Festival: August 1 – 9, 2026 (9 days), organized by the Turkish Ministry of Culture and Tourism. The festival features concerts, exhibitions, performances, workshops, and cultural events across the Cappadocia region.
The two festivals overlap between August 1 and 2, making this one of the liveliest times of the year to visit Cappadocia.
